Jewellery Inspired by the Great Barrier Reef
Barrier Reef Glass Beads brings together my 30 years of involvement with the Reef, the Australian rainforest and a love of all things artistic. I create works that are little worlds in themselves using lamp-work techniques, which involves layering glass that is heated in a flame. I also create enamel jewellery. I worked for many years in finance with lamp-working as a hobby. However, glass is incredibly addictive and it wasn’t long before I was working exclusively at my torch, taking my inspiration from the rainforest and Great Barrier Reef which are on the doorstep of my home in Townsville in Far North Queensland. I am guilty of totally loving my work.
I see myself as a dedicated romantic, expressing my love of life through my art, and one of my major pleasures is to make people smile.
